Me, Myself & MINE!

My dearest prince has not yet entered the "Mine" phase, yet. However, a friend of mine, her son has. She shared a cute little story with me...

"Everything is 'My This' and 'My That'. Even 'My Mommy' or 'My Daddy'. We heard the most extreme form of possessiveness (is that a word?) this weekend though....

'MY poopy!' And he runs away from us when he has a poopy diaper. "

What a riot, that toddlers can be so dominating - even over stinky mush!

Inquiring minds want to know

We have officially entered the Q&A segment of toddler-hood. My curious little monkey is asking "what was that", actually said as "woes waz that", after he hears a noise or sees something he is not familiar with. It is actually very endearing...right now. I love the fact that he is anxious to learn about his world and I'm there to tell him all about. I know the famous and often tiresome 'why' phase is just lurking in the months ahead. I'm hoping I can still think it's endearing!

How did you survive the 'why' phase? Feel free to post your comments here.

Easy Puffy Paint Recipe

Today I have a recipe for 3-D paint. Your budding Picasso can make his art stand out with Puffy Paint. Take 1/3 cup of each: flour, salt & water and mix until smooth. To tint your paint base, add a small amount of tempera or acrylic paint (or food coloring) to mixture - just enough to color the base. Spoon paint into a squeeze bottle and use to apply paint to construction paper or other thick paper. To add details, use toothpicks, forks, straws, Q-tips, etc to create additional dimension and textures. Allow to dry overnight and see the masterpiece the next day. Enjoy!

Dye Job

It was an egg coloring extravaganza this weekend. Thank goodness we striped our prince down to his diaper and plastered the counters with newspaper. It was a messy affair and everything was drenched, but we got some pretty colorful eggs (and hands) out of the deal. Isn't it all worth it when you see their eyes light up and a huge smile on their face. You know you just created a moment for a happy childhood memory!

Spring Fever

What a awesome day we are having here in the Midwest. The sky is clear, the birds are chirping, a frog is croaking in our pond and the weather is spectacular at 67*! I'm so thrilled it is officially spring - at least by the calendar. Come tomorrow the temp will start to drop and Easter Egg hunting will be chilly. But, at least we have today. I'm making it short so we can head outside to take advantage of it. Hope you have a chance to do the same.
Happy Spring!

A La Cart

Shopping with kids just got easier! OnTray is the coolest on the go container for shopping carts. We have been testing one for a couple weeks and have fallen in love. OnTray attaches easily to the handle of your shopping cart and has multi-functions. Cherrios or Goldfish filled our tray most often and kept our little dude content while I shopped. I plan to use it when I shop alone to hold my grocery list, coupons and a pen. But, you can also use it to hold crayons, small toys or whatever keeps your babe busy. It comes with a lid, stores easily in my purse and it is dishwasher safe (top rack). We give it 4 thumbs up; 2 mommy thumbs & 2 sticky toddler thumbs.

Oh! I can't forget to mention it is mom-invented!

Recipe Review

Okay Queens, I've started testing out some of the recipes from Deceptively Delicious. I'm awaiting a response from the book's publishers if I can publish a few of the yummiest ones here in the blog. (I can't afford getting sued!).

My first attempt was at the Aloha Chicken Skewers. It uses sweet potato puree and pineapple puree. Instead of doing the purees myself, I just bought some baby food to speed up the process. The taste result: My boys, kiddo & husband, gobbled these up. I thought it was okay. I don't care for sweet potatoes, and I could still taste it. Overall, if you don't mind sweet potatoes, it sure was a hit at our dinner table!

Until I have an okay, I can only tell you if I recommend it or not. If you want to try out some recipes yourself, go and check it out from your local library for free!

What is it?

This afternoon as I’m sitting down to blog, I decided to pop some 94% fat free microwave popcorn. I’m still a bit hungry after lunch since my munchkin ate more of my yogurt than I did. Then I started wondering, how healthy is this stuff anyway? Its corn and corn is a grain and a vegetable. Does that mean I’m getting whole grains and veggies in one yummy bite? Hmmm….I’m sure it is just wishful thinking. Does anyone know for sure? Feel free to add your comments.

Eggs-tremely cute!

Holy bunny ears – I just realized Easter is next weekend! During my quest to find something unique, fun and not made of pure sugar, I saw these little charming critters at SpoonSisters.com. I think they would make a darling addition to any Easter basket. Simply plant the grass seed packet and in a week or so you'll see it's "green hair" start to sprout. What fun this little growing egg can be for nieces, nephews and of course our own little kiddos!

To sweeten the deal, get $5 off on-line of orders of $40 or more. Enter CARROT at Checkout.

So, hop to it!

M.I.A.

Many apologies for going M.I.A. for a few days. I was having trouble connecting to the internet at the end of last week and today I could not muster the energy. I was fighting a fever and hot/cold sweats - ughhh! I must say, I'm lucky to have a wonderful mother-in-law who lives close. She took my little ball of energy for a few hours today so I could get a little break. The break did wonders and I'm starting to feel better, so I'll be back tomorrow!

A Sexy Surprise

Today's Queen goody literally fell in my lap. Seriously, my mother-in-law dropped a pink bottle in my lap and told me to try it. It was a travel size of Victoria's Secret So Sexy Shampoo. I thought it would be just like any other shampoo, smells good in the shower, but once you dry your hair you can no longer smell it. The next day I gave it a shot... I Loved it! This shampoo smells great and gives your hair a gentle cleansing while removing styling product build-up. My hair had more life and bounce. Also, I could smell my bouncy tresses all day, this shampoo is like perfume for your hair! (but not overpowering). They offer So Sexy for Fine, Normal and Dry & Damaged hair, so there is a potion for every Queen! I highly recommend trying it.

Get any 3 So Sexy products for $21 - look here for the deal.

Manic Monday

Today is just chaos... trying to finish up laundry from the weekend, and other cleaning. Do you ever get discouraged while cleaning? As I make my way through the house, my little tornado follows behind. I think to myself, "why bother?". Until tomorrow, MOBsters!
